In Saratov Region investigation launched in death of teenager in dental clinic

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Saratov Region have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide due to improper discharge of professional duties) after a 17-year-old boy died in Dental policlinic No 2.

According to investigators, on 27 June 2014, the teenager accompanied by his grandmother went to the policlinic for medical aid and got a shot of local analgesia. After the shot the teenager fainted. The medical personnel of the clinic started rendering him emergency medical aid and at the same time call an ambulance. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the boy, but he died.

According to preliminary reports the cause of death was an anaphylactic shock caused by the analgetic.

A number of forensic tests have been assigned, the results of which are being expected at the moment. Medical personnel have been questioned. An additional commission forensic examination is planned.

During the preliminary probe the investigators are going to assess all the circumstances of rendering medical aid and legal side of the clinic’s activity taking into account the data obtained during a check by the Federal Healthcare Supervision Service. The investigation is ongoing.
