Investigative Committee held solemn event dedicated to Russian Investigators’ Day

Today, the Investigative Committee of Russia held a solemn meeting devoted to the Day of Russia’s Investigators. The event was attended by investigative bodies’ veterans, relatives of the Investigative Committee employees killed in the line of duty, the leadership of the Investigative Committee, the members of the IC’s Public Council and specially invited guests.

Addressing the audience, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee said that "the mere existence of such a holiday in the Russian calendar shows the high public recognition of our profession, the importance placed by the country’s leaders on investigators’ work". "The Investigative Committee made a major contribution to the strengthening of law and order in the country. Thus, over the past 3.5 years since its formation, being at the forefront of the fight against crime, Russian IC’s investigators have handled over 3 million reports of crimes, initiated more than 460,000 criminal cases, and referred 300,000 criminal cases, including over 30 thousand corruption cases, to courts",- Alexander Bastrykin said in his speech.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia observed a moment of silence to commemorate his colleagues who had died in the line of duty.

Alexander Bastrykin also noted high efficiency of the Russian IC staff in solving serious and very serious crimes, stressing that "it is through the principled position of the IC’s investigators that the majority of offenders have faced punishment". Concluding his speech, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia thanked investigators and investigative bodies’ veterans for their work, integrity, courage and personal responsibility.

Investigators and veterans were also congratulated by State Counselor of Justice Alexander Sukharev, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Investigative Bodies’ Veterans Vladimir Dontsov, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Yuri Antonov, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the TV channel "Russia 1", Head of Legal Programs Office Eduard Petrov.

Alexander Bastrykin awarded departmental decorations to employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and investigative bodies’ veterans.
