In Moscow, sentence handed down to Maxim Martsinkevich found guilty of stirring up hatred or disparagement

A court has found the evidence gathered by the Moscow Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict Maxim Martsinkevich. He was found guilty of a crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 282 of the RF penal Code (hatemongering and disparagement).

The court and investigators have found that in the period between 14 September and 14 October 2013, aware that he was committing wrongdoing, Martsinkevich made videos of extremist nature and posted them on his page in a social network for everybody to see.

During the probe the investigators ran two linguistic analyses, computer technical analysis and other investigative operations that proved Martsinkevich guilty. The defendant denied the charges.

The court has sentenced Martsinkevich to 5 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.
