On 28 May 2014, 31 children with signs of food poisoning were taken to the republican infectious diseases hospital from Zezag kindergarten in the village of Kirov, Grozny. The children got poisoned by the cakes, they had eaten the day before, which were infected with aurococcus. Mother of one of the girls had brought the cakes to the kindergarten to celebrate her daughter’s birthday.

According to investigators the cakes had been made in confectionery and bakery workshop in the village of Prigorodnoye owned by the accused. She let a woman with an infectious disease – aurococcus and without a personal medical certificate work in the workshop.

Additionally, there were no technical documents, including a quality certificate for the cakes. The products manufactured in the workshop were stored breaching retention cycle requirements, temperature conditions and other sanitary rules.

In the morning of 27 May 2014, the accused sold the infected cakes with custard at a wholesale price to a local resident, who on the same day sold 48 of them to the woman. In the evening, the woman went to get her daughter from kindergarten and gave the cakes to other children.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
