Charges pressed against two accomplices of 2002 murder of Kurgan Region Duma deputy

The Ural Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has pressed charges of a crime under paragraphs “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder) against two accomplices of the murder of Kurgan Region Duma deputy Alexander Antoshkin.

According to investigators, in the evening on 4 December 2002, in the town of Kurgan the killer and his accomplice arrived to the office building in the center of the town, where Alexander Antoshkin, a prominent public figure, lawyer, businessman and deputy of Kurgan Region Duma was at the time. Watching the victim through a window on the first floor, the killer shot at him from a Kalashnikov gun and after that fled in a car driven by the accomplice.

As a result of their long and meticulous work, the investigators and officers of the Kurgan Region Office of the Federal Security Service got information that the accused had been involved in the crime and the two of them were detained in June 2014. The accused were members of a criminal group specializing in contract murders and are now being checked on involvement in other very serious crimes committed in the Kurgan Region and other regions of the Russian Federation.

At present the investigation is ongoing in order to find and detain the person who ordered to kill Antoshkin. The investigation is carried out by a joint investigating group employing officers of the Kurgan Region Office of the Federal Security Service and the Crime Detection Department of the Kurgan Region Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior.
