In Moscow members of organized group found guilty of series and very serious crimes

A court has found the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Central Federal District sufficient to convict members of an organized group Alexander Grishin, Sergey Sitnikov, Eduard Chekhov, Yegor Kaloshin, Artyom Mikhailov. Depending on the role of each one, they were found guilty of crimes under paragraphs “a”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 162, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code (murder, robbery, illegal storage, carrying, transportation and transfer of firearms).

The court and investigators have found that on 1 September 2011, the members of the organized group killed a local resident in Sergiyev Posad District of the Moscow Region by beating him up with a baseball bat and stabbing to get hold of his share of a flat. Later, in November 2011, in Domodedovo District, Moscow Region they attacked four local residents threatening with a TT gun, procured by Grishin, katana and knives and robbed them of money and valuables worth over 900 thousand rubles.

In addition, while under arrest for the said crimes and being confined in detention center No 8 of the Moscow Region Office of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service Chekhov killed his cellmate motivated by sudden loathing.

Based on the damning verdict the court has sentenced Grishin and Kaloshin to 14 years in prison; Sitnikov and Mikhailov – 12 and 9 years respectively, all of the terms to be served in a maximum-security penal colony. Chekhov was sentenced to 15 years to be served in a special-regime penal colony.

Additionally, a member of the said organized group Victor Yusov, whose case had been severed in a separate proceeding, in June 2014, was found guilty of a series of serious and especially serious crimes and sentenced to 14 years in a special-regime penal colony.
