In Moscow Region organizer of gang detained and charged with very serious crimes

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continues investigating a criminal case in the city of Nizhny Novgorod opened against 44-year-old Sergey Ageyev charged with setting up a gang, plotting a murder of two and illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition (part 1 of article 209, part 1 of article 30, paragraph “a”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, in 2013 Ageyev and an acquaintance of his Sergey Petrov set up a stable armed group active in the Samara and Ulyanovsk Regions. The gang included two more individuals, who had to kill two businessmen on hire. To do that Ageyev and Petrov got a Kalashnikov machine gun and two TT pistols with ammunition. They also had an improvised explosive device, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a grenade. For a long time the gangsters kept track of their victims, devised schemes of murder and made ambushes, but failed to complete the plan, as were attacked by unidentified persons. Petrov was killed during the attack. Ageyev escaped from investigators and was wanted.

As a result of search and investigating operations he was detained in the Moscow Region and placed in custody. He was charged with the said crimes.

Earlier criminal cases against two more members of the gang were severed to form a separate proceeding. The investigation over the cases has been finished and soon they are going to be sent for the indictment to be approved and further into court to be tried on the merits.
