In Stavropol Territory Head of Department for Construction Control and Constructing Conservation Facilities suspected of bribe taking

The North Caucasian Federal District Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against Head of the Department for Construction Control and Constructing Conservation Facilities Olega Gonochenko, Alexander Kozub and Alexander Turyev. Depending on the role of each one they are suspected of crimes under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribe taking) and part 4 of article 291.1 (mediation in bribery).

According to investigators, Gonochenko while serving in the said state-controlled facility decided by extortion to receive a bribe of over 60 million rubles for signing a certificate on the cost of works executed by a commercial organization. To do that he involved an acquaintance of his named Kozub, who in his turn asked Turyev, who later negotiated with a representative of a commercial organization. On 24 September 2014 in the town of Yessentuki, Stavropol Territory, Turyev acting on the instructions of Gonochenko and Kozub received from a businessman part of the bribe of over 12.5 million rubles. After that Turyev and later two other accomplices were detained by law enforcement officers.

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
