Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee meets with Chairman of Belorussia’s Investigative Committee

A working meeting of Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin and Chairman of the Belorussia’s Investigative Committee Valentin Shayev has taken place today in the Russia’s Investigative Committee.

The Belorussian delegation arrived for further development of interagency relations between the two Investigative Committees.

The parties exchanged their views on enhancing efficiency of bilateral partnership, quality of investigations, and ways to improve interaction in area of providing legal assistance in investigations. It was noted that the principle forms of cooperation are sending and execution of instructions on legal assistance in investigations, exchange of information presenting mutual interests for the parties on plotted and committed crimes and individuals involved.

During the working meeting the parties pointed out that a new stage of the interagency collaboration was an Agreement on cooperation between the Russia’s Investigative Committee and the Investigative Committee of Belorussia signed on 25 April 2013 (hereinafter – the Agreement). Under the Agreement the Belorussia’s Investigative Committee has sent to the Russia’s Investigative Committee 4 requests of legal assistance, 3 of which were executed and 1 is being executed. In its turn the Russia’s Investigative Committee under the Agreement has sent 1 request. As part of bilateral cooperation employees of the criminalistics department of the Belorussia’s Investigative Committee several times in 2012-2013 visited Main Department of Criminalistics of the Russia’s Investigative Committee to study its practices.

Based on the information forwarded by the Belorussian party under the Agreement on the crimes committed in the Russian Federation, the territorial investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened 2 criminal cases.

The parties decided to continue active cooperation between divisions of the Russia’s Investigative Committee and the Investigative Committee of Belorussia in taking measures to improve interagency collaboration and in constant exchange of regulatory statutes in the area of law enforcement activities and criminal proceedings; in regularly informing on achievements in adopting new criminological means and systems, advanced experience in investigating and other areas of service and other matters.
