In Penza Region criminal investigation launched in murder of Great Patriotic War veteran

On 5 October 2014, law enforcement bodies received a report that a dead body of an 87-year-old local resident had been found in his house in Ordzhonikidze street in the town of Kuznetsk, Penza Region with signs of violent death. The Penza Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched an investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder).

According to preliminary reports, the elderly man lived alone in a private household. His neighbors visited him often to help with the house. They got worried that the elderly man did not go out the house and did not answer the phone and called one of the man’s relatives. The man got into the house through a window and found the elderly man without signs of life and with injuries to his head.

By now the crime scene has been examined and the investigation is ongoing to find out all the circumstances of the crime. A number of tests have been fixed, including a forensic medical one, to find out the cause of death. The investigators are looking in different theories, one of which is robbery related murder.

Investigations in crimes committed against socially unprotected categories of citizens, especially veterans of the Great Patriotic War, have always been under a special control of the Investigative Committee senior officers. The investigators of the regional directorate will take every measure to solve this brutal crime as soon as possible and identify all the persons involved in the murder of the veteran.
