Two members of gang that acted in Ulyanovsk and Samara Regions to appear in court

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case opened in the city of Nizhny Novgorod against 26-year-old Alexey Shkayev and 23-year-old Dmitry Lyovin charged with a robbery, banditry, plotting a murder of two people and illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition (part 2 of article 162, part 2 of article 209, part 1 of article 30 and paragraphs “a”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, in 2013 Ageyev and an acquaintance of his Sergey Petrov set up a stable armed group active in the Samara and Ulyanovsk Regions. The gang included two more individuals, who had to kill two businessmen on hire.

To do that Ageyev and Petrov got a Kalashnikov machine gun and two TT pistols with ammunition. They also had an improvised explosive device, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a grenade.

For a long time the gangsters kept track of their victims, devised schemes of murder and made ambushes, but failed to complete the plan, as were attacked by unidentified persons. Petrov was killed during the attack.

In addition, in 2011 Shkayev and Lyovin assaulted a Vice-President of a self-regulated company in Samara Region to intimidate him. They hit the victim multiple times on the head and limbs with iron rods causing an open craniocerebral trauma and closed fracture of left ulna equal to medium-range damage and stole his belongings worth over 100 thousand rubles.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence confirming guilt of Shkayev and Lyovin, so the criminal cases against them with the approved indictments have been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

Ageyev was hiding from the investigators and wanted. He was detained in Moscow Region on 17 September 2014 and taken to custody, later he was charged with crimes under part 1 of article 209, part 1 of article 30 and paragraphs “a”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code. The investigation against Ageyev is ongoing.
