In Udmurtia criminalists of Investigative Committee Central Office join investigation in murder of two children

Experienced criminalists of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Central Office have been sent to Udmurtia to provide practical assistance in investigating murder of two children. Now the crime scene is being examined for the second time to find traces and evidence relevant for the fastest solution of the crime.

It has been reported earlier that on 27 October 2014, at 11:20 PM, a 33-year-old woman from the village of Balezino reported to law enforcement bodies that her two children had gone missing: a 13-year-old boy and 11-year-old daughter. The children had gone in an unknown direction. During the search operation the dead bodies of both children were found in the evening of 28 October 2014, in the woods not far from the village Balezino. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Udmurtia launched a criminal investigation into a crime under paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

At present there is a staff headed by the head of regional investigations directorate composed of the most experienced investigators of the directorate and officials of the Russian Ministry of Interior. Investigating and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and identify people involved. There are a number of expert examinations assigned, including forensic medical, DNA and biological ones to check the DNA traces seized from the crime scene. The children’s relatives, friends and neighbors are being questioned. Several theories are being looked at. The criminal case is kept under control in the Investigative Committee Central Office.
