Criminal investigation launched in Mi-8 crash in Nenets Autonomous Area

The investigating bodies of the Northwestern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for traffic and operation of an aircraft entailing death of two or more people by negligence) following the crash of a Mi-8 helicopter that happened in Zapolyarny District of Nenets Autonomous Area.

According to investigators, on 7 December 2014, the Mi-8 helicopter (hull number 06138) of OAO the Second Arkhangelsk United Team made a hard landing after having flown 2 km from Trebs and Titov oil deposits to the direction of the village of Kharyaginsky. There were 3 crew members and 4 passengers aboard. One crew member and one passenger were killed.

At present urgent investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances and reasons of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
