In Moscow procedural check started over statements made by Ukrainian politicians

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has started a procedural check in connection with the statements made by some of Ukrainian politicians about the events in the city of Grozny that happened on 4 December 2014. The Russia’s Investigative Committee regards those statements as public justification of terrorism (article 205.2 of the RF Penal Code – public calls for terrorism or public justification of terrorism).

Since mass media were used to make those statements, the article provides for the punishment of up to 7 years in prison.

A procedural decision will be made following the check.
