In Moscow Region criminal investigation launched in MiG-29 crash

The investigating bodies of the Moscow Region Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under par 1 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for traffic and operation of an aircraft entailing infliction of grievous bodily harm to a victim) after the crash of a fighter MiG-29 that happened in Moscow Region.

According to preliminary information, today at about 11:53 AM, a MiG-29, register number 204, of OAO Gromov Russian Plane Construction Corporation MiG piloted by aircraft commander Sergey Rybnikov and second pilot Vadim Selivanov lost contact during a test flight. At around 11:56 AM, the plane crashed in Voskresensk District, Moscow Region. Both pilots were taken to N.V. Sklifosovsky Emergency Aid Research Institute in serious condition.

An investigative team is working now at the crash scene and in OAO Gromov Russian Plane Construction Corporation MiG. The investigators are examining the crash scene, confiscating documents, taking samples of fuel and conducting other urgent investigative operations to find out all the circumstances and causes of the crash and persons responsible for it.
