The North Caucasian Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into crimes under articles 317, 208, 222 of the RF Penal Code (attempt on the life of a law-enforcement official, organization of an illegal armed group or membership in it, illegal circulation of firearms) after an attack on police officers in the city of Grozny.

An investigative team of over 50 experienced investigators and criminalists has been set to investigate the case. The crime scene has been carefully examined. The investigators seized and registered the traces of the crime relevant for the investigation. A number of forensic inquiries have been assigned. The bodies of the killed members of the illegal armed group are being identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
