In Novosibirsk Region criminal investigation launched in subquality services causing death of child in swimming pool

The Novosibirsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services that do not meet safety standards and caused death of a minor) after a child died in the Zarya swimming pool.

According to investigators, on 4 December 2014, there were 8 children having a swimming class in the Zarya swimming pool. When the class started the instructor was destructed by another child while a 9-year-old boy started drowning. One of the adults present lifted the boy on the surface, but he was unconscious by the time. The boy was delivered to hospital with apparent death, and died there later.

The investigators are going to make every effort to find out all the circumstances of the incident and reveal all reasons and conditions that contributed to it.

At present investigative operations are underway. The investigators are studying the documents regulating the pool security and identifying certain people involved in the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
