Member of Federation Council Konstantin Tsybko charged with bribery

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has charged member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly (representative of Chelyabinsk Region Legislation Assembly) Konstantin Tsybko with two crimes under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery).

According to investigators, in 2012, Tsybko received from Yevgeny Tarasov 17.5 million rubles for assisting in appointing the man head of Ozyorsk town district administration in Chelyabinsk Region. In addition, investigators believe that Tsybko received a bribe of at least 10 million rubles from a businessman Oleg Laknitsky for lobbing his business interests and creating favorable conditions for developing business in Chelyabinsk Region.

The cases against Laknitsky and Tarasov charged with crimes under article 291 of the RF Penal Code (bribery) have been joined with the proceeding against Tsybko. During an interrogation Laknitsky gave detailed evidence and exposed Konstantin Tsybko.

Tsybko has been released on recognizance and Laknitsky is under house arrest. Tarasov is serving his time for embezzlement of the money of Ozyorsk town district administration, which he had given Tsybko as a bribe. The investigation is ongoing.
