In Tyumen Region criminal investigation launched in death of 4 children in fire

On 17 December 2014, at around 3:40 AM, dead bodies of three girls aged 5, 1 year 7 months and 2 months and a boy aged 3 were found while putting out a fire in a house on Nagornaya street in the village of Yarkovo, Tyumen Region. The Tyumen Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against a resident of the village of Yarkovo, born in 1986. She is suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide of 2 or more people).

According to preliminary information, the woman with her 4 children rented a flat in the house in Yarkovo. On 16 December 2014, at around 4 PM, she left and locked her children in the flat. She went to drink alcohol with a friend of hers. When she came back at 3 AM, 17 December 2014, she saw puffs of smoke and found dead bodies of her three children, the fourth body was found by the rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry when they were extinguishing the fire.

The suspect is detained. Charges and custodial restraint are expected soon.

Investigators are carrying out all necessary investigating operations to find out all the circumstances of the incident, as well as reasons and conditions of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
