The Irkutsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under part 1 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (rendering services not meeting life and health safety requirements).

According to investigators, on 12 December 2014, around 20 pupils of one of schools in the city of Irkutsk did not come to school because of food poisoning, two of them were taken to hospital.

At present there is a team of the most experienced investigators looking into the case, a number of expert examinations and inquiries have been assigned to determine the diagnosis. The investigators are going to find out all the reasons and conditions that contributed to the incident and study the documents to identify persons who had failed to ensure children’s security. The investigation of the case is under control of the senior officials of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.
