The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area have finished investigating a criminal case against headmaster of Nakhodka primary and secondary boarding school and teaching and educating deputy headmaster. The two women are charged with a crime under part 2 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence, that is improper discharge of professional duties due to negligent attitude to service if that entailed grave violation of rights or legal interests of citizens and entailing death of a person).

According to investigators, on 27 September 2014, between 7:30 and 8 AM, the teacher of the Nakhodka boarding school aware that there was an out-of-control pack of dogs belonging to four local residents violated her job description and sent a 9-year-old girl to the dormitory to fetch the documents she had left there. While the girl was walking from the academic building to the dormitory the pack of dogs attacked her and bit multiple times.

During the investigation is has been revealed that the headmaster and deputy headmaster aware that there were uncontrolled dogs on the facility premises had not taken any measures to eliminate danger posed to the children. As a result of their criminal omission the girl died.

Earlier, in February 2015, a court sentenced 4 owners of the dogs to 10 months in prison each. The teacher got 1 year and 3 months in prison.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
