In Dagestan lawyer and his acquaintance to stand trial for series of felonies

Dagestan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against a lawyer and a 35-year-old acquaintance of his. Depending on the role of each one, they are charged with crimes under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 132 of the RF Penal Code (sexual abuse), part 2 of article 162 (robbery committed by a group of people), paragraph “b” of part3 of article 163 (extortion on a very large scale) and part 1 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms).

According to investigators, on 11 October 2014, in the city of Makhachkala the lawyer and his acquaintance sexually abused a woman and her male acquaintance. The motive was suspicions of the lawyer that his wife had cheated on him. The accused recorded their actions on a cell phone camera. After the crime the crime the accused took from the man 200 thousand rubles and demanded to give them 2 million rubles for not making the video public.

Later thinking that the man was delaying with giving the money, in late October the lawyer demanded the man to register his Toyota Highlander in the name of the lawyer’s mother. To do that, they went to Makhachkala traffic police department, but failed to register the car due to failure of its owner to show up.

On 29 October 2014, the lawyer was detained by law enforcement officials in 50th Anniversary of October Park while taking 100 thousand rubles. In addition, during the search of the lawyers BMW-X5 the officials found a hand grenade RGD-5.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
