In Saint-Petersburg preliminary investigation launched in death of a Finn on a ferry

The investigating bodies of the Northwestern Transportation Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a preliminary investigation in the death of a citizen of Finland on a ferryboat.

According to preliminary information, in the morning on 21 March 2015, a dead body of a citizen of Finland was found in a cabin on the Princess Mary passenger ferryboat that arrived to Saint-Petersburg from Helsinki. It has been revealed that at night of 21 March the victim had a conflict with another citizen of Finland and was punched in the face. After that the man was shown into his cabin. In addition, eyewitnesses say that the victim was drunk.

A forensic inquiry has been assigned to find out the cause of the death. Other checks are also underway following which a procedural decision will be made.
