Preliminary investigation launched in Mi-2 crash in Kamchatka Territory

The investigating bodies of the Far Eastern Transportation Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a preliminary investigation in the crash of a Mi-2 helicopter in Kamchatka Territory.

According to preliminary information, on 24 March 2015, between 6 and7 PM, local time, a Mi-2 helicopter owned by the ROSTO aeronautical club crashed near the Karymchina river in Yelizovo District, Kamchatka Territory. The helicopter was carrying out a technical flight to check out the engine which had recently been repaired. It had on board a pilot and a technician. A helicopter with a unit of the regional SAR team aboard took off for the scene immediately. Two dead bodies were found in the cockpit.

At present investigative activities are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the preliminary investigation.
