Investigation opened against vice-chairman of committee for state control, use and protection of Saint-Petersburg history and culture monuments

Saint-Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against vice-chairman of the committee for state control, use and protection of Saint-Petersburg history and culture monuments Igor Grishin, as well as against Vladimir Antonov and Aleksey Syromyatnikov. They are suspected of crimes under part 6 of article 290, part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (bribery, intermediacy in bribery).

According to investigators, in the period between January and March 2015 Grishin several times demanded a bribe of 4 million 500 thousand rubles via Antonov and Syromyatnikov from deputy CEO of a company for signing documents confirming execution of state contracts under which the company had received over 46 million rubles. On 12 February 2015, Antonov received part of the bribery of 20 thousand US dollars near a house on the Fontanka embankment.

On 18 March 2015, Syromyatnikov received the remainder of the bribery of 3 million rubles and 20 thousand US dollars in a restaurant in Konnogvardeysky boulevard. After that he was detained by officers of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region Office of the Federal Security Service.

At present restraint and charges are expected. The investigation is ongoing.
