In Altai Territory investigators conduct searches and hold suspect of fraud with selling flat of Great Patriotic War veteran

The Altai Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are investigating a criminal case over fraud with selling the flat of the Great Patriotic War veteran in the town of Barnaul (part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code). Investigators have searched residences and workplaces of 8 people, who are being checked on being involved in the crime, and confiscated documents, computers and digital devices, notebooks and other objects.

A resident of the territory capital has been held on suspicions of being involved in the fraud.

According to the investigators, in early March 2015, Tatyana Belonogova, a 92-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War and labor, a 1st-group invalid learned from representatives of a facility manager that her flat had been sold to some people. However, the woman had not given any consent to the sale.

Following the request filed by the investigators the veteran’s flat has been put under arrest that bans the flat from being involved in any registration procedures.

At present the investigative team are confiscating documents in the registration center of Barnaul. In addition, other investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and identify individuals involved. The investigation is ongoing.
