In Moscow investigation opened against headmaster

The investigating bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against a 59-year-old headmaster of a school. He is suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of power).

According to investigators, the headmaster of the school located in Michurinsky avenue each year involved students’ parents to conclusion of contracts between them and a commercial organization under his control. The said contracts provided for additional English classes. Between 2012 and 2014 the additional classes were held involving the same teachers and during the time provided by the academic curriculum and were actually paid for by the funds allocated from the city budget. Over 760 parents concluded the said contracts. The total cost of the said classes stood at over 20 million rubles. The headmaster spent the money at her discretion.

The crime was revealed thanks to a check held by the Moscow department of education.

At present a number investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the consequences of the crime. The headmaster’s residence and the school have been searched. The headmaster has been detained. The investigation is ongoing.
