In Tatarstan bus owner arrested in bus crash case

Following a request filed by Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee a court has ruled to remand in custody Viktoria Larina, 51, the owner of the Mercedes bus that carried children.  

On 21 May 2015, 10 teenagers aged 10-11 were injured and three people were killed, including an underage girl, in a traffic accident in Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Larina is suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services that do not meet life or health safety standards).

According to investigators, the bus was not equipped properly, namely it lacked children’s seats. In addition the bus was travelling at night which is against the law.

Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
