Ex-Governor of Novosibirsk Region Vasily Yurchenko’s property arrested

The fifth investigations department of the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee based in the city of Novosibirsk continues investigating a criminal case against former governor of the Novosibirsk Region Vasily Yurchenko charged with a crime under part 2 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (excess of authority).

Investigators have done their best to ensure that the damage caused by Yurchenko can be compensated for. Following a request filed by investigator, a court has ruled to arrest Yurchenko’s cottage in the village of Kudryashovsky worth over 12.6 million rubles, land, bathhouse and premises in Novosibirsk.

The investigators have revealed that in August-September 2014, Yurchenko tried to sell the abovementioned property, the total cost of which can secure the execution of the sentence related to a fine, civil action or other pecuniary penalty.

The property is arrested under the investigation launched in 2014. According to investigators, in 2010, Yurchenko being the first Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region ordered to cancel an auction selling an unfinished building and a piece of land on Chaplygin street in the city of Novosibirsk. The property was owned by GazTransKom 100% shares of which are owned by the Novosibirsk Region. But Yurchenko ordered to sell the property to OOO Taktika at a price they wanted n. As a result rights and legal interests of physical persons and legal entities were considerably violated as their rights to take part in the auction and buy the property were restricted. The wrongdoing also caused considerable loss to GazTransKom in the form of its failure to get about 18 billion rubles for the said properties. In addition the Novosibirsk Region budget also did not get the income of over 3.5 million rubles.

Besides, there is another investigation in abuse of power ongoing against Yurchenko following transfer of a piece of land owned by the Russian Federation from the category of lands of defense and security to the category of agricultural lands.
