In Tatarstan bus owner charged in bus crash case

Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged Viktoria Larina, 51, with a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services that do not meet life or health safety standards).

On 21 May 2015, 10 teenagers aged 10-11 were injured and three people were killed, including an underage girl, in a traffic accident in Nizhny Novgorod Region.

According to investigators, the bus owned by Larina was no equipped properly, namely it lacked children’s seats. In addition the bus was travelling at night which is against the law. Larina admitted her guilt. Following a request filed by the investigators a court has ruled to remand her in custody pending trial.

Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigators are going to qualify actions of officials of the Youth and Sports Ministry and Tatarstan Traffic Police, who failed to send the children to another city in proper way. The investigation is ongoing.
