The Nizhny Novgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 282 of the RF Penal Code (actions directed at disparagement of a person because they belong to a social group, committed publicly, using force or threats to use force).
The information about an outrageous incident that had happened in a café in Nizhny Novgorod was spread the day before in a number of media. According to preliminary information, on 11 August, a young woman with disability and accompanying persons came to a café to have a glass of water, but had to leave as they did not get their order. Without any lawful reasons, the director of the café not just asked the unwanted guests to leave, but called the security to do that.
Investigators are going to find out the motives that made the director of the café to demand the physically challenged woman and her company to leave. It is not clear how a physically challenged person could disturb either the staff or guests, or damage the image of the café. They are also going to assess the actions of the security guards, who didn’t even flinch, but rushed to get the woman out. The investigation is ongoing.
