The Novosibirsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against an activist of political party the Republican Party of Russia – Party of people’s Freedom Leonid Volkov over a crime under part 3 of article 144 of the RF Penal Code (impeding legal professional activity of a journalist).

According to investigators, in July 2015, Volkov impeded journalists of Lifenews who wanted to get footage near the regional office of the Republican Party of Russia – Party of people’s Freedom and forced the journalists to refuse from spreading the information they got.

In addition, he damaged a radio microphone causing material damage to the TV channel.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
