Young man arrested for killing young woman in Novosibirisk

The Novosibirsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigation against 16-year-old young man charged with killing a girl (part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code).

The Novosibirsk Region Court has ruled to cancel the decision of the first instance court that the teenager had to be placed under house arrest and the accused was arrested in the courtroom. After having been questioned as a murder suspect, an investigator charged the teenager and asked the court to place him in custody pending trial. However, the court thought it necessary to place him under house arrest. The investigator did not agree with the decision and appealed against in the court of appeal. Requesting the court to remand the teenager in custody, the investigators explained it by the severity of the crime committed against an underage girl and the way it was committed, that is multiple stab wounds to vital organs. The accused has information about whereabouts of the witnesses of the crime, who know some details. So the investigators have reasons to think that the accused may press the witnesses, destroy traces of the crime, and escape from investigators and keep committing crimes.

According to investigators, in the evening of 28 August 2015, there was a report that a dead body of a 16-year-old girl with signs of violent death had been found in a cottage in Pervomaysky district of Novosibirsk. During investigative and search operations the investigators held the girl’s peer who had been present at the crime scene.

The investigators are going to carry out all necessary investigative operations in the shortest time to bring the killer of the 16-year-old girl to justice. At present, they have assigned a comprehensive psychiatric inquiry and necessary investigative operations are underway to find out what exactly happened. The investigation is under special control of the senior officials of the Novosibirsk Region Investigations Directorate.
