Two operatives of SOBR special force arrested in investigation in Aslan Gagiyev’s gang case

The North Caucasus Federal District Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has held two senior operatives of SOBR special force of Moscow Region Main Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior Andrey Sankin and Viktor Pronin. They were detained under article 91 of the Russian Criminal Procedure Code during the investigation against members of Aslan Gagiyev’s criminal community.

According to investigators, no later than June 2006, Sankin and Pronin, while serving in the police special force, joined Aslan Gagiyev’s gang and later took part in abduction and murder of four people in Moscow in June 2006 and in abduction and murder of two people in in Moscow January 2008.

A court has ruled to remand both of them in custody pending trial.

The criminal organization set up and led by Aslan Gagiyev started operation in 2004 and had over 50 members. They committed over 48 crimes in the city of Moscow, Moscow Region and North Ossetia-Alania killing 63 people, including law-enforcement officials, officials of republican and town levels, businessmen and others. By the present time 17 members have been sentenced to long terms in prison including life imprisonment. 18 more are in custody, 9 people are wanted across the country and the world, Gagiyev and his right hand Artur Dzhioyev were apprehended abroad and are waiting to be extradited to Russia.

At present necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crimes and prosecute individuals responsible for them.
