People involved in caving of Simferopol-Dubki road killing six identified and charged in Crimea

The investigating bodies of the Crimea Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged director, chief engineer and master of section of OOO Bakhchisaray Road Construction Department with crimes under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide of six due to improper performance of professional duty).

According to investigators, in the period between November 2008 and December 2010, during the construction of the road the accused failed to make sure that the design was complied with, to control the process of construction and completion works. As a result, on 28 September 2014, a car carrying eight people fell into a 9-meter-deep hole that appeared as the asphalt and earth under the road had caved in. Two children were taken to a hospital with injuries, the rest six people, including two more children died at the scene.

At present, the accused have been released on recognizance. The investigators are looking into all the details of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
