In Nizhny Novgorod, woman convicted of selling her child on Internet

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Volga Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a woman from Nizhny Novgorod Region. She was found guilty of a crime under paragraphs “b” and “h” of part 2 of article 127.1 of the RF Penal Code (buying or selling a minor).

The court and investigators revealed, that in summer 2015, the accused did not want to raise or support her unborn child, got acquainted with a man from Moscow on the Internet to sell her baby. She agreed to take 100 thousand rubles after giving birth to the baby. Part of the sum was transferred to the accused before the baby was born. In late July 2015, after the baby was born, the accused gave her newborn baby to a woman from Moscow at the railway station in Nizhny Novgorod. The accused did not get the rest of the money as the fact that she sold her baby was learnt by investigative authorities and the baby was taken away from the buyer.

It should be noted that at present the Volga Transport Investigations Directorate is investigating another case against the woman who bought the baby over a crime under paragraphs “b” and “h” of part 2 of article 127.1 of the RF Penal Code (buying or selling a child), which is still not finished.

The sentenced the accused to 5 years of probation.
