In Murmansk, probe launched into abduction of Russian man in Gulf of Guinea

The Northwestern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation into a crime under Part 2, items “a” and “d” of Article 126 of the RF Penal Code after abduction of Ivan Rudny, 32 in the Gulf of Guinea.

According to investigators, on 23 February 2016, about 8 a.m. GMT (about 11 a.m. Moscow time) unidentified armed people attacked the MV Bourbon Liberty 251 which was travelling under the flag of Luxemburg (operated by Bourbon Baltic LLC) and was carrying 12 people, including 6 Russian citizens. They put the second mate Ivan Rudny in their boat and fled with him in an unknown direction.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
