In Nizhny Novgorod, woman who bought baby in Internet convicted

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Volga Transport Investigations Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a resident of Moscow. The woman was found guilty of a crime under Part 2, items “b” and “h” of Article 127.1 of the RF Penal Code (selling or buying a minor).

The investigation and court have revealed that in June 2015, the accused got acquainted with a woman from Nizhny Novgorod Region to buy a baby via the Internet. The women entered a criminal conspiracy and agreed on a sum of 100,000 rubles for a child. In late July 2015, the accused took the baby from the Nizhny Novgorod railway station.

It should be noted that the crime was revealed thanks to coherent work of the investigators and operatives. As soon as the women had given the baby and received part of the sum, they were taken to investigators and admitted their guilt.

The court has sentenced the woman to 3 years of probation.

In addition, the woman from Nizhny Novgorod Region, who had sold the baby, was sentenced earlier to 5 years of probation.
