In St. Petersburg, five natives of Maritime Territory detained on suspicion of abduction, extortion and robbery

The Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into crimes under Part 2, items “a”, “c”, “g” and “h” of Article 126, Part 2, item “b” of Article 163, Part 2 of Article 162 of the RF Penal Code (abduction, extortion, robbery).

Natives of Maritime Territory: Sergei Shutylev, Andrei Delyagin, Aleksandr Yakovlev, Sergei Kuznetsov and Igor Mikhalyov have been detained as a result of investigative and search operations. According to investigators, on the evening of 21 March 2016, the suspects wearing camouflage uniforms of special forces handcuffed and used physical force to take three local residents to a flat in 1st Predportovy Lane. The perpetrators then used threats and physical force to make the victims sign documents handing them two BMW vehicles worth over 2,500,000 rubles, stole a mobile phone from one of them and 75 thousand rubles. In addition, the suspects demanded from the victims to give them 20 million rubles to pay a debt they did not have.

On the night of 22 March 2016, the victims were released by the police.

At the present time the suspects are expecting the arrest and charges. The investigation is ongoing. The investigators are going to check if the suspects have been involved in other crimes and find out how they had got hold of the camouflage uniforms and handcuffs.
