The Saratov Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues an investigation opened against a 21-year-old resident of the town of Saratov over a crime under Part 4 of Article 111 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm entailing death of the victim by negligence).
It became known earlier that on the morning of 18 March 2016, a report was received that a dead body of a small child was found in a single-family house in Melnichnaya Street in the town of Saratov. According to investigators, a 26-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son had moved to Saratov from Rostov Region and started living with her 21-year-old boyfriend. Between 15 and 18 March 2016, the step father disciplined the child by hitting him on the head and torso with a belt and armrest. On the morning of 18 March 2016, the child felt unwell and then passed out. The doctors certified death of the child. According to the preliminary data of the forensic medical inquiry, the boy’s death was caused by a blunt trauma with brain hemorrhage, brain contusion and bruise to the kidneys.
Protecting children against crimes is a priority of the Russia’s Investigative Committee. The perpetrator was detained on the crime scene during well-planned investigative and search operations. By now he has been charged and is expecting a custodial restraint. The investigators are taking necessary measures to study the personality of the detainee and are going to give legal evaluation to the actions (omission) of the boy’s mother. The investigation is ongoing.
