Sentence passed over investigation into stealing of money allocated for design and exploration work to build launch pad of Vostochny space launching site

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Head Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Sergey Ostrovsky who was found guilty of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud committed by a group of people in conspiracy, a person using their position and on a large scale).

The court and investigators have revealed that in 2011, in the city of Moscow, Ostrovsky while being the leader of a team of chief engineers of ZAO 31st State Design Institute of Special Construction of the Russian Ministry of Defense and CEO and founder of OOO PSK MIKOS fraudulently stole over 14 million rubles allocated from the federal budget of Russia to execute design and surveying work for building a launch pad at the Vostochny space launching site under the Federal Space Program 2006-2015.

The court has sentenced Ostrovysky to 5 years to be served in a minimum-security correctional facility and a fine of 800,000 rubles.
