In Ulyanovsk Region, college students found guilty of beat underage girl

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Ulyanovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 5 students of the regional state funded educational institution the Karsun Technological Technical School. Depending on the role of each one they were found guilty of Part 1 of Article 116 of the RF Penal Code (battery), Part 2, item “d” of Article 117 (torture).

The court and investigators have revealed that, on 11 January 2016, four students of the Karsun Technological Technical School beat a 16-year-old student in a woman’s toilet room. Another one of the accused, a 17-year-old young man who was filming the crime also hit the girl. It has been revealed that the conflict between the students in the dormitory had taken several hours and the battery in the toilet was its conclusion. During the probe the investigators ran forensic medical and psychiatric tests and carried out over 60 questionings.

It should be noted that in each case on different stages of the probe, the investigators pay special attention to prevention of the crime committed by minors and to find out the reasons and conditions that contributed to the crimes. This case was not an exception. The investigators have filed requests to the police and the Ulyanovsk Region Ministry for Education and Science, following which 10 officials have been disciplined, including by dismissing and discharging.

The court has sentenced one of the students to 5 months of community work, while the rest of the accused got under the behavioral program order.

In addition, the criminal case against the officials of the Karsun Technological Technical School negligence accused of a crime under Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence) is being tried now.
