The North Ossetia-Alania Office of the Investigative Committee has charged two police operative agents of the crime detection office of the Vladikavkaz police department, senior lieutenants of police aged 27 and 31 with a crime under Part 3, item “a” of Article 286 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of office using violence).

According to investigators, on 31 October 2015, at about 3:30 PN, a 39-year-old local man was brought to the Vladikavkaz police department on suspicions of inflicting grievous bodily harm. The officers used violence against the man. On the might of 1 November 2015, the unconscious man was taken from the police department to the resuscitation department of the Republican Clinical Hospital of Vladikavkaz where he died the next morning.

The head of the police department and five of its employees were detained on charges of the crime. A court ruled to remand them in custody pending trial and charged them with abuse of office using violence.

The court will soon review the request of investigators to remand the accused in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
