The Ivanovo Region Office of the Investigative Committee has pressed charges against a 25-year-old local resident with kidnapping and killing a minor (Part 2, item “e” of Article 126, Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code).

As became known earlier, on 2 September 2016, a woman kidnapped the girl from a pram near a residential building in Melanzhevaya Street in the town of Ivanovo while a girl’s relative was away. On the same day, at about 7 PM, the Ivanovo Region Office of the Investigative Committee in cooperation with operatives of the Ivanovo Region Office of the Ministry of the Interior and Liza-Alert volunteer team found the dead body of the kidnapped girl in a river in Kharinka park in the town of Ivanovo.

According to investigators, the accused is the official wife of the biological father of the girl and kidnapped and killed her because she was jealous.

By now the investigators have examined the crime scene, assigned a number of inquiries, identified the accused. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime, collect and register the evidence. The investigators are going to request a court to place the woman in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
