Investigative Committee sign cooperation agreement with Russian Union of Writers

Chairman of the RF Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin and Chairman of the Russian Union of Writers’ Board Valery Ganichev have signed an agreement on cooperation between the Committee and the Union.

The signing ceremony was attended by co-chairs of the Union’s Board Mikhail Nozhkin and Nikolai Ivanov, Vice-Chairman of the Union’s Board Sergei Katkalo, Secretary of the Union’s Board Igor Yanin, editor in chief of The Russian Writer newspaper Nikolai Doroshenko, President of the presidium of the Union of Investigation Veterans, the National Association of investigation veterans’ NGOs Vladimir Dontsov, acting chancellor of The RF Investigative Committee Academy Anatoly Bagmet, Director of the Alexander Nevsky Cadet School of the RF Investigative Committee, hero of the Soviet Union Igor Zaporozhan, Head of Education Department of the Investigative Committee, Hero of the Russian Federation Sergei Petrov, some heads of other divisions of the Investigative Committee’s central office and the Moscow Directorate, representatives of the Investigative Committee’s Union of Young Investigators, members of the Russian Union of Writers, students and cadets of Investigative Committee’s educational institutions.

Addressing the present, Mr. Bastrykin said that “writers have always been indicators of life so it is a very important event for the Investigative Committee as we are entering into cooperation with a patriotic and majestic organization uniting great moral and spiritual potential of the writing intellectuals of Russia, heirs of Pushkin, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, all those who are the glory of Russian culture. Striving for justice, integrity, upbringing of patriots, love for their country, care about the national culture, language, about single spiritual and cultural space, this is what unites everybody in this room.”

Mr. Bastrykin also said that “the society always follows the example of those in front of them and writers are always in the vanguard of the society. The war for young minds goes forward and it is as important as ever for us to unite our efforts and potential of the Investigative Committee and the Russian Union of Writers. Of course we would like the literature to reflect the life and professional activity of our personnel. And believe me, you will find such real-life stories here which are impossible to be imagined”.

Mr. Ganichev pointed out that “writers are also a kind of investigators themselves. They examine different areas of human life, study the reasons for processes that take place within the society. Russian classic literature is a role model for contemporary writers. With their creative work contemporary writers and poets continue traditions of raising patriotism and self-sacrifice in our citizens, celebrate heroism and power of our great people. The cooperation agreement gives young writers an opportunity to examine the image of an investigator to more details and depth, and to bring it to life in their works.”

The cooperation agreement was signed and endorsed by Mr. Bastrykin who said: “In the environment we live and work now, the mission of preserving and protecting historical truth and reliable information safety of Russia become more and more pressing and difficult to accomplish. This is why by uniting efforts, each one at their own side, we will be able to make our contribution to the fight over young minds, to strengthen best features of our people and fight against the worst ones.”
