Investigators to look into yet another knife fight among teenagers in Krasnoyarsk Territory

On 11 October 2016, two 12-year-old girls were taken to a hospital in the town of Divnogorsk with knife wounds. That was immediately reported to the police, who organized a check into the incident. On the initiative of investigators, the Krasnoyarsk Territory Directorate of the Investigative Committee has by now taken up the probe for thorough investigation and to study the reasons for the incident.

According to investigators, yesterday two 6th graders quarreled over a boy and decided to discuss the conflict after classes. One of the girls had a feeling that something might go wrong and took her friend to the meeting. After classes the girls met near a block of flats in Mashinostroitelei Street and had a conversation which never turned into a conflict. After the conversation, the girl who had initiated the meeting, asked the others to turn their backs to her saying that she had a surprise for them. She took a knife and stabbed the two girls inflicting gutter wounds to their sides. Having done this, the girl fled. Fortunately, a man was driving by on a quad. He stopped, administered first aid and then took the wounded girls to the nearest hospital. At present both of them are in stable condition and are getting necessary aid, their lives are out of danger.

Experienced investigators of the regional investigative authority are going to look into the incident. They are going to do everything possible to ensure that the frightening tendency of children committing crimes against their peers will not go unpunished and will not give rise to permissiveness. During the check the investigators will see the girl’s friends, conditions in her family, how well she socializes in school, relationships with her classmates, teachers and parents.

As for the girl that attacked her peers, unfortunately, she can’t be prosecuted for her crime because she is too young. However, that does not mean that she will get away with it. The other day a similar incident shook Krasnoyarsk Territory when a 13-year-old boy was killed in a conflict of teenagers that had started in social media. In that case, investigators ordered a juvenile commission to prepare a motion to a court requesting to isolate the attacker. The same measures can be applied to the 12-year-old girl although this time nobody died.
