Former employees of Moscow Metro start reading bribery case materials

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against former chief of power supply services of the Moscow Metro, a government unitary enterprise, Gleb Berkhovsky, deputy chief of the power supply service Dmitry Borisenko and representative of a commercial company Aleksandr Ihchenko. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under part 6 of Article 290 (taking a bribe on a very large scale) and Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (mediation in bribery committed on a very large scale).

According to investigators, in November 2015, Verkhovsky and Borisenko demanded a bribe of 16 million rubles via middleman Ishchenko from businessmen involved in some work they did for the Moscow Metro as contractors. They demanded the money for signing an acceptance certificate. Thanks to well-planned investigative operations, all of the accused were detained as early as on 14 November 2015, while taking the bribe near a block of flats in Gilyarovsky Street in Moscow. All three of the accused were in a car at the moment.

In accordance with Article 217 of the Criminal Procedure Code the accused and their lawyers have started reading the case materials. Soon the criminal case will be set for the indictment to be signed and then will be referred to court.
