In Tatarstan, local resident found guilty of murder and illegal deprivation of liberty

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Tatarstan Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict ex-con Fidail Sibgatullin, 34. He was found guilty of a crime under Part 2, items “a”, “e” and “g” of Article 127 (illegal deprivation of liberty) and Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder).

The court and investigators have established that on the evening of 24 December 2013, residents of the city of Kazan 19-year-old Vladimir Komissarov, 20-year-old Ivan Tikhonov, 31-year-old Fadail Sibgatullin and 35-year-old Maksim Kulakov broke into the home of a 47-year-old resident of the settlement of Sadilovo, Vysokaya Gora District. Having shot several times from a gas pistol, they forced the man to get into a car and took him to a forest near Biryuli railway station. Sibgatullin took the man deep into the forest and stabbed him two times into the neck and chest killing him on the spot.

Sibgatullin’s accomplices were jailed in 2014. Sibgatullin was treated in a psychiatric hospital and appeared in court after recovery.

The court has sentenced Sibgatullin to 12 years in prison.
