The Novosibirsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigation into execution of work or provision of services that do not meet safety standards and entailed death of two or more people by negligence under part 3 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code following collapse of the roof in a riding school.

As became known earlier, the collapse happened at the riding school Allur (Gait) near the settlement of Novy, Novosibirsk Region on 19 January 2017. A 15-year-old teenager and a 45-year-old trainer were killed, 2 more teenagers were injured and are now in hospital.

Investigators have revealed that the riding arena was built without permission on a plot of land of former Putilov children’s health camp. Director of the riding school rented the land and the buildings on it. The investigators believe that the roof collapse under the weight of snow and fell on 7 people present at the time on the arena.

Director of the riding school has been detained and is being interrogated. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
