On 24 January 2017, the RF Higher Qualification Board of Judges considered the request filed by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee and gave their consent for a criminal investigation to be opened against a former judge of the Moscow Commercial Court.
Earlier, the Southern Administrative District Major Cases Department of the Investigative Committee’s Moscow Directorate carried a check under Articles 144 and 145 of the RF Criminal Procedure Code against judge of the Moscow Commercial Court Igor Korogodov suspected of an attempted fraudulent stealing of money from a resident of Moscow on a very large scale by promising him that he would get a favorable decision in a civil action tried by Korogodov’s colleague.
Following results of the check, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee filed a request on 12 August 2016 with the Chairman of the Higher Qualification Board of Judges for the consent to initiate criminal proceedings against judge Korogodov suspected of a crime under part 3 of Article 30, Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code.
